Well, the trip was a straight through and on to home. We booted down the 401, eagerly anticipating our arrival home. We stopped at a Wendy's and a Tim Horton's for lunch, but not for too long. We were definitely keen to make it home in good time. We arrived in around 4:30 PM. Here we are back home:
First things first, we cleaned out the trailer and the car. Pam's sister,
Margaret, and her daughter Katie, came over to see us shortly after arriving.
She had actually passed us just as we were arriving, so she was the first to
know we were home. Margaret and Katie had lived in our house while we were
away (which was a major blessing):
David's mother had invited us over for dinner, so here we are getting ready to eat:
And here we are in the adult room (alias dining room) at dinner:
Heather Lynn was very keen to get to senior high at Kanata Baptist Church (it being Thursday evening and that being sr. high 'night'). Heather Lynn had successfully surprised her boyfriend (in cahoots with her best buddy Lianne) a little while earlier. He did not know that she was coming home this soon (she kept it a carefully guarded secret from strategic people). Now it was time to surprise them at the church. Here we are heading in to senior high (Andy, Lianne, Heather Lynn, and Larissa .. HL's cousin):
The above picture was actually taken inside a car as we pulled away from a set of lights with David holding the camera. (The camera got accidentally flipped to 5 second delay and so David got to do the 'dangerous' move of driving with one hand on the steering wheel and one hand holding a camera out in front of him.) We all were glad that we didn't crash and that the picture turned out.
And were they ever surprised and happy to see her at senior high:
Isn't it great to have best friends (HL with Lianne):
We had good friends who used to live in Kanata and were now living in British Columbia that just happened to be visiting their parents (and friends). We had been in contact with them by e-mail during the trip and they had told us that they would be back in Kanata at the end of April. Since (at the time) we did not plan to be back we did not think we would get to see them. Since we arrived back early, however, we were overjoyed to be able to get a chance to visit with them before they went back to BC. Here is Phil and Lynn Mills sitting out in our gazebo:
And here is a gazebo / back-of-house view of our place at 38 Kingsford Crescent, Kanata:
It sure is nice to be home!
