The pool at Hilton Head was great (an indoor one). It was necessary to be indoor since Hilton Head in January is definitely colder than Orlando. The beach was also a hit:
One of the evenings was Bingo night. James won a $10 gift certificate to the Hilton Head Brewing Company (it is a restaurant). Pam won a beach bag as a door prize at a welcome reception.
There is a hot tub at this resort (outside) that was really hot. Some evenings Reba would jump in after swimming indoors. Very nice!
Reba (with Pam's help) found a Barnes and Noble on the island. That was really important to fuel her Star Trek book 'addiction'.
The weather was mostly pretty nice - in the 60's in the day, around 40 at night. One day there was a storm that blew in (just before David and Heather Lynn arrived). The waves were pounding the beach and changed the beach front, bringing in 'stuff from the sea'. Pam says it was quite amazing to see the huge, crashing waves, and afterwards to see the power of the ocean on the beach front.
The kids loved to play ping pong, and James was on the computer a lot. David found out on one of his phone calls that there were three TV addicts. He assumed it was the three kids, until he found out the next day (another phone call) that the three Pam had referred to were Reba, Dan, and Pam! James was the computer addict.
After one week in room number 1, the four had to change to room number 2. The first room was on the first floor (which is really the second floor because of building code on the island, the ground floor was for parking only). The second room was one floor higher and had a wonderful view of the ocean. The first room was newer, the second one not. One of those trade-off times in life. Such a difficult life it is (biting sarcasm). It will get more interesting with all six of us in a tent trailer (read on).
Well, this pretty much takes us to Feb. 1 and the 'big wait' by Pam to pick up David and Heather Lynn at the airport in Savannah. Let's leave that tale to Chapter 2 ... read on.
